Most of you are familiar with San Gimignano of Italy, every family was competing to see who could build the tallest tower. As architects we each have our own little tower of knowledge that we nurture and develop so that we don' have to reinvent the wheel on every project.
San Gimignano is a great place to visit but it was no match for Florence which had a more centralized development and gave ust Il duomo, one of the most spectacular churches ever constructed: Santa Maria del Fiore by the great architect Brunelleschi.
Now I love towers and I love San Gimignano but it may not be the best way to build a large Body of Knowledge and to im
prove the larger community. This is the purpose of Artinit, Architectural Research and Technology. Our goal is to share knowledge and use the synergy of many minds working to a common purpose to building a dome of knowledge that is accessible to anyone who contributes to its construction.
Thus I am recruiting "research associates" to build this dome of knowledge. There is no monetary cost to become a research associate except that you are asked to contribute your knowledge or to work on one of our on-going research projects.
The American Institute of Architects has built a large body of knowledge as has many other organizations in the design a
nd construction field. We do not wish to compete with the AIA or any other organization. Our goal is to partner with the AIA CSI, AGC, SEASOC, ASLA, ICC, WBDG, GBCI, ASHRAE, DBIA and all the great organizations working to design, engineer and construct our built environment. When someone else has the knowledge, when the information is on the internet or on You Tube we only hope to connect to that information and to be another information hub.
We also want to work with the ICC, government agencies, educational institutions, architectural firms and private research groups to share knowledge.
Our guiding light is LINUX, Wikipedia, Google, Bing and Artificial Intellligence programs.
Our architectural schools already are doing great research, we hope to apply their research and distribute the knowledge that they are already generating.
Since we are totally free. Okay we may swap our information for some of yours through our token system but we do not intend to charge for knowledge directly. Okay we do hope to get some advertisers who appreciate knowledge. If we do generate income we will use as much as we can to support scholarships
like those of the J.R. Driskel Scholarship Fund but that is a pipe dream right now.
So if you are an architect, an engineer, a contractor, a construction manager, an estimator or a student or even just a patron and fan of architecture. Please join us and help to build something special
